Mile High Music Festival 2009 Wrap-Up: Buddy Guy

I had been hearing all day long about Buddy Guy. The day before, people were wearing Tool T-shirts. Sunday, people were wearing Buddy Guy T-shirts. His name was a buzz all over the field and a bit in the media tent, so I was pretty interested in getting over to see what all the hubbub was about. Again, I had built myself up far too much, because Buddy Guy was simply another blues jam band kind of act. Yes, his guitar skills were probably unmatched, but since every musician there was probably more talented than my ears could discern, this didn't really have much of an effect on me. If he had been straight delta blues, like I had expected, then I would have been hella on board. His blues was no more blues than any of the other neo-blues acts that I'd been seeing all day, so after a while I went and caught the rest of Devotchka's set.
