Dish - Ma Raison De Vivre Ton Amour
My Thoughts: Like ()

Dish's album is a deceiving little character. On the surface it has all these strange sounds and percussion instruments and odd tones to certain instruments, but at it's core it's a pop album. I don't really know how I feel about it to tell the truth, but I recognize that these songs have a certain amount of catchy qualities to them. It makes me think about what will happen when the songwritter/performer thing that went on with the Brittany Spears era pop becomes more pervasive in the common era, and more indie rock artists simply become figure heads and what is dubbed the "indie rock sound" has essentially become pop. I'm not saying that's what has happened here, because I just don't think anyone would ever assume the cool kids behind Dish would ever stoop that low, or that they weren't talented enough to write noisy, strange pop songs. Just makes me wonder is all. I mean, these songs are very much pop songs, with lots of radio play potential, but they're by no means conventional in the instrumentation sense. A respectable, if not confusing, record.
