Monolith Music Festival 2009 Wrap-Up: These United States

So a little while back I accidentally reviewed their first album as though it was their newest, and in my defense I honestly thought it was their new record. If that had been true, then it would have marked a very different direction for TUS, a more Casiotone for the Painfully Alone-style of music as opposed to the folk that I had become accustomed to. I was pretty confused when I heard the live stuff, because it was folky as all heck, nothing like the album I'd just heard. After their set while interviewing them (interview to follow pics of bands and all that madness), I was corrected, and everything made sense in the world. TUS are seriously one of the best folk acts on the planet right now. Heartfelt ridiculouslness and singsong wickedness.
