First: Local Hip-Hop Kiko Kinetic drew my attention to himself and I checked him out and I have to say I found a certain amount of promise in his tunes. I personally would check out the songs on his myspace page, but if you don't want to do so, you can check out this song he lent me (which, while good, isn't as good as the stuff on his myspace page):

Five: The Last Shadow Puppets (1 member from the Arctic Monkeys, another from The Rascals) are releasing their debut soon (April 21st UK, May 6th US), and they've titled it The Age Of The Understatement. Either way, they recently sat down in NY and recorded a few stripped down versions of the songs on said debut, and here are those:

This is the kind of band that makes me upset when they're called "Experimental," because, to me, it just sounds like a couple guys playing an awkward kind of punk, tweaking minor things, but since most people don't do that, they're considered "experimental," and will, thus, be looked down upon by people "not into that." Whatev, this album was pretty great. One of the best drummers I've heard in a while.

It was soft and sweet and full of hope and loveliness, but I still think that they could have a fuller sound with 3 people in the band

Dark, deep, brooding, bassy, and unreal. It's minimalist without feeling remotely minimal. It's techno for swamps in caves.

Damon Albarn is a musician who knows not only what sounds good, but what people want. I have a feeling this project is a little bit before it's time, because it hasn't reached major public recognition, but if the second album is anything like this one (but, I suppose, different enough to be distinguishable from this one. Music is tricky, but Damon seems to have the hang of it).
