Her voice reminds me of the female vocals in interludes on Scandinavian Death Metal albums that I used to listen to in High school, which is why I was instantly attracted to it. The song writing makes me think that this duo was in a dark place when they were forming these songs. This was a hard album to recommend to some friends, but I can only imagine that's more a fault on my side than the album's

Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
Everyone went bat ... shit ... crazy over this album. I liked it, for sure. Loved it in fact. But some of the songs just got old over a short period of time, and I found myself skipping songs to get to some of my more favorite songs. I would not doubt that this is one of the smartest albums of the year, but I certainly didn't like it as much as I liked some other albums this year.

The Sound of Animals Fighting - The Ocean and the Sun
Of course, one of the more crazy albums of the year. By far the best studio album that has come out of this little project. I'm glad to say/hear that there really does seem to be a good bunch of music behind all this craziness, but it's still not for everyone. I know that these guys are actually very talented, but I just wasn't in the mood for it when I heard it the couple times I did. They remind me of a young Portishead. I think they could really blossom into a great band, not to say this isn't them being a great band, but, rather, that they could be a band that makes music that transcends mood.

1 Week Summer Break

So I only had one week until my classes started again (this last monday) because for some unforeseen reason I thought it would be a good idea to, oh, I don't know, catch up on school work. That's a lie, I know why I'm doing it: it'd be nice to graduate at some point. This unfortunately means I won't be able to go to a million shows this summer like I have the past few summers. But that's okay, because there is so much new music coming out that is so good that it almost makes up for that. What's been coming out? well lemme just start out by mentioning a few things:
