'08's Music to Love More Than Music: Like, Pt. 8

Like ( )
The Tiger Lillies - Seven Deadly Sins
There is so much to consider when you talk about the Tiger Lillies. These people put on a show, and sometimes that takes precedence over the music, I think. These songs seem to be more a method of getting a story told then anything else, and that's okay, but that's not what I'm listening for. Talented musicians? unquestionably. (See original review)
The Tiger Lillies - Pride

In Flames - A Sense Of Purpose
Sigh. I said it pretty well in the original review. (see original review)
In Flames - Disconnected

Chris Dooks - The Aesthetic Animals Album
Some of the songs were quite peculiar, and the others were a little stale. I liked a couple though :)
Chris Dooks - The Swan

The Republic Tigers - Keep Color
This release shows a great deal of promise, but not more than their live show does. If their album sounded like their live show, I would have liked it more. But it's a decent album
The Republic Tigers - Contortionists

Current 93 - Birth Canal Blues
Dark music. straight up creepy and weird. I loved the first track, but the others didn't quite grab me.
Current 93 - I Looked to the South Side of the Door

Tittsworth - 12 Steps
Phatphat beats and nutty as heck rhymes over most of it.
Tittsworth - WTF

In Flames - A Sense of Purpose
Verdict: Like ()
Gosh. I just have to wonder what happened to In Flames. I loved them. I was even with them when they got a little poppier with Reroute to Remain, which is still one of my favorite albums by them. Soundtrack to Your Escape, their next album, actually has my favorite song by In Flames on it. Then Come Clarity came out. And it was trash. I hated it. HATED it. This is their first album since then, and I still respect their old stuff, so I was willing to give this one a shot. The reason I "Like" it is because its a step away from Come Clarity, which is anything but bad. But in truth I feel shitty saying that I "Like" it, because it's still not what I really want to hear. I applaud them for branching out, and I suppose people move in their own directions, but I just don't like the idea that In Flames and I may have to break up soon.
In Flames - Disconnected
In Flames - Sober and Irrelevant
In Flames - Abnegation
